 After reporting the capture of The Serpentines ‘Big Linear’ on the NWC Forum recently, Dan Hepworth agreed to pen a few words about the session which brought about its downfall.  The 2009 Angling Trust Cadets, Juniors, & Intermediates National
Championship took place on Saturday 4th July at Cudmore Fishery,
Newcastle-under-Lyme. Over 200 youngsters aged between 10 and 20 years
of age took part in the event all hoping to go home with a winning
medal and National winning title.
Congratulations to Smartbait Leeds, who took the winning title in the
Cadets Championship for the forth consecutive year winning gold with 25
points and a weight of 27.02kg. Tameside Fox Match were in second place
with 22 points and 28.93kg to take the silver medal. The bronze was won

 The Vulcan Reservoir is fishing very well f1carp, tench, skimmers, roach, ide and carp are all providing some great sport, maggot, caster, corn, bread, meat, pellet will have you taking fish on a regular basis. The Yew Tree Reservoir is fishing very well for big skimmers, bream, carp, tench, rudd and perch, but what’s happened to the roach? this remains a mystery, this water was once renowned for its big bags of roach but now they seem to disappeared.  The Angling Trust is delighted to announce that Daiwa Sports have confirmed they will be sponsoring the Angling Trust Schools National Championships in 2009.The event is a team competition with five anglers in each team. This year we have 30 teams taking part a total of 150 youngsters fishing for £4,000 of equipment.
This Championship takes place on Wednesday 15th July 2009 at Daiwa Hallcroft Fishery, Hallcroft Road, Retford, Nottinghamshire, DN22 7RA. The competition is open to boys and girls, the age group is from Year 7 up to Year 11 (and ... [full story]

 The ruck returns! The Barra-ruk was discontinued last year but returns in 2009 as a much improved version. When we got the luggage resampled after deciding to leave the product out of the 2008 range, Paul Terry took the reworked sample and used it non stop for over a year. So impressed was he with the performance that he made amendments to the product making it even better and we have now relaunched the product for 2009 - and at a massively reduced price.  OnlineFishing.tv has made all its programmes available on a 'Pay Per View' basis. Visitors to the Internet channel that covers all angling disciplines now have the option of subscribing so they can watch everything, or picking and choosing their favourite shows for just £1 a show.  The joint statement put out recently by the Angling Trust, Natural
England and the Environment Agency was the product of the first of many
meetings about otters and fisheries. It was based on the information
available at the meeting. Since then, anglers have contacted us
reporting problems on other waters.
The Trust has been set up
to represent the views of all anglers, based on good quality
information, and we have therefore produced a questionnaire for anglers
to let us know what is going on in the rivers and stillwaters they know

 With only three rounds left to this years Fish’O’mania Grand Final
at Cudmore the competitors arrived at the Woodlands Lakes at Carlton
Miniott, North Yorkshire with high expectations that the fishery would
live upto its reputation of high scoring venue.
Though some big name anglers had made the long journey to Woodlands
it was Durham angler Tony Robertson fishing in his first ever
Fish’O’mania qualifier that took full advantage of his extensive
knowledge of the venue to come out the overall winner on the day. A
regular competitor at Woodlands, Tony drew peg 11 in the centre of the
